Blogmas Day 7: much-loved Christmas songs

would you believe that I used to sing in the church choir? Jepp. As a tween I liked to sing but I am really not that good of a singer, so over the years I sing less and less. but I do secretly still love singing to Christmas songs. I even have a special playlist full of Christmas tunes that I look forward to playing come December (there’s a local radio station that plays 100% Christmas songs from Nov 25th till Christmas!)  There are so lots of renditions of popular Christmas songs, and I have some much-loved versions to share today.

God rest Ye Merry Gentlemen/We three Kings – Barenaked ladies feat. Sarah Mclachlan:

2000 Miles – Pretenders:

Have yourself a Merry little Christmas – Coldplay (featuring Conan in an awful Christmas sweater! The studio version is here.):

Happy Christmas (The war Is Over) – U2:

Oh holy night – Jennifer Hudson:

Do You hear What I Hear- Whitney Houston (so tragic that she’s gone!):

While some of the songs above are religious hymns gone a lot more mainstream, I still quite take pleasure in the standard Christmas songs sung by choirs (most of these links will be to church choirs singing the songs):

• The first Noel
• It Came Upon the Midnight Clear
• Angels We have heard on High
• Hva slags barn er dette?
• once in royal Davids City
• O little town of Bethlehem

And no Christmas would be complete without Handel’s Messiah and the singing of “For Unto us a child is Born”:

What are some of your favourite Christmas songs?

Blogmas Day 17: much-loved holiday MoviesLet me first preface this by saying that I am not into overly cheesy Christmas movies… I’m going to admit something: I’ve never enjoyed “It’s a terrific Life” or “Miracle on 34th Street” in their entirety. 😮  Here are the 5 Christmas motion pictures that top my Must-Watch list every holiday…

Blogmas Day 22: much-loved past Christmas giftsThis is the tale of the gift exchange between my SO and I, for our first Christmas together. 🙂 We started dating in September, so that official first Christmas doesn’t count considering that we’d only known each other for 4 months (I think that year I gave him a card and that’s it).…
